In 2015 the Western Balkans became a major transit corridor for migrants mostly seeking to reach countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, France and the United Kingdom.
The governments of Greece, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia found themselves overwhelmed by the situation and, in many cases, responded with repressive and violent measures.
For several months, I worked with media such as AJ, Diagonal.net and the Association of European Journalists in Bulgaria, with the aim of making this crisis visible from different perspectives.
